Why do I need to think about Equality Impact Assessments?

Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) are systematic evaluations of how projects, studies, or initiatives might affect different groups within society. These assessments aim to identify any potential biases, inequalities, or unintended consequences that could arise from the research process or its outcomes. Strangely EIAs are not common practice in health and care research, although the tide is changing and research funders like the NIHR are beginning to expect EIAs as evidence that researchers have considered equality, diversity and inclusion in their planning.

I talk about EIAs in a webinar here
